‘When is it right to kill a wolf?’ - Read the article below
This New Republic feature exposes how centuries of fear and control still shape humanity’s relationship with wolves. In France, “royal wolf-catchers” dating back to Charlemagne now use modern weapons and politics to continue an ancient mission: dominate the wild.
The wolf has become a scapegoat—used to divide people, stir fear, and distract from deeper issues. Yet killing wolves doesn’t solve conflict; it fractures packs, ecosystems, and our connection to nature itself.
At Women for Wolves, we believe the real question isn’t when it’s right to kill a wolf—but why humans keep trying to.

Women for Wolves in the news
FINALLY some good wolf & wildlife news! The U.S. House has blocked yet another attack on the Endangered Species Act (ESA). This is a massive win for wolves, bears, sea turtles, and over 400 threatened species that depend on these protections. THIS means our voices work!
For the third year in a row, Rep. Andy Biggs (R-AZ) tried to strip away ESA safeguards, this time by introducing an amendment that would’ve exempted the Department of Defense from obeying wildlife laws across 27 million acres of land.
Thanks to public pressure and over 80 conservation organizations, the House voted 228–200 to reject this reckless move. This wasn’t just a vote: it was a stand for science, ethics, and life itself.
The truth:
🐺 The ESA doesn’t threaten national security and it protects balance, biodiversity, and the very ecosystems that sustain us.
🚨 This amendment was never about “safety.” It was about deregulation and destruction.
Today, the ESA stands strong because advocates refuse to be silent. That’s why we have to always use our voice when we can. 🐺💜 Thank you @antihuntingmovement

Whether you join in person or via Zoom, your perspective, your passion, and your advocacy can help protect Yellowstone and Montana’s wolves.
